Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY ) made the claim that he was “deeply disturbed” by the incident involving a Department of Homeland Security officer handcuffing a colleague in his New York neighborhood office.

On Wednesday, DHS personnel entered Nadler’s Manhattan department and placed restraints on an aide whose identity is still unknown. Another employee videoed the incident and is accused of “harboring protesters in the office” by a police agent. The attorney asserted that he didn’t have a permit to assault the assistant.

In a irresponsible and dangerous way, Nadler claimed in a speech on X Saturday that President Trump and the DHS are” growing chaos in our areas” using coercion tactics against both people and non-citizens. I’m alarmed by the intense and heavy-handed methods DHS uses in New York City and across the nation, despite the fact that no arrests were made and the situation immediately deteriorated.

The decision to enter a parliamentary office and hold a staff member is a clear indication of a serious breach of international law. If something like this can occur in a part of Congress’s company, it can occur anywhere, and it is happening,” Nadler said.

The Washington Examiner contacted DHS for remark.

The Federal Protective Service “reacted to knowledge that protesters were existing” inside Nadler’s Manhattan company, according to a top DHS official, who informed Hill”>the Hill. They went there because they “weren concerned about Hill”>the security of Hill”>the national employees in Hill”>the office.”

Officers were given access and encountered four people upon arrival. Officers came up with their names and stated their intentions to carry a safety check. Nevertheless, one person actually obstructed access to the office and started speaking abusive terms,” the official claimed. The officers next took the person into custody in the hallway to finish the safety check. Without further affair, all were released.

Nadler, who pleaded with the president to “abandon the use of the extended elimination process, which denies expected procedure to immigrants and citizens alike,” suggested that the incident had to do with President Donald Trump’s immigration policy.

Every day, the FPS visits and encircles 1.4 million governmental employees. The bureau can get over 530, 000 calling for service each year.
