Megha Vemuri reacts to MIT ban, trolling after pro-Palestine speech: 'I can handle the attention, positive and negative'
Megha Vemuri said she may capture the attention, both positive and negative, if that means more people will be able to understand the message.

Megha Vemuri, an Indian-born person who protested for Palestine in her undergraduate talk at MIT, reacted to both the praise and the criticism she received as a result. Vemuri told CNN,” I can manage the interest, whether it’s positive or negative, if it means spreading that information more.” Vemuri gave her commencement speech on Thursday, but MIT immediately reacted by telling her and her home they would not be permitted to attend the meeting on Friday. MIT claimed the academy respects the right to free speech, but Vemuri did not, as she submitted a unique speech that was approved before catching the administration by not noticing when she attributed MIT’s involvement in the genocide to the institute and claimed it was complicit in the genocide. But, Vemuri does receive her degree from the MIT, according to a MIT director who spoke to CNN. Vemuri was criticized by MAGA commentators who claimed she had stooped the occasion and ignored the views of the Jewish students present. Indian critics also criticized her for not talking about the anguish of the Hindus but choosing Palestine to come across as “woke.” Vemuri said,” What I am dealing with right now is definitely nothing compared to the Palestinian people, and I would take on much more if it meant supporting their reason.” Vemuri claimed that her relatives supported her and that the second-day event’s absence from step allowed her to remain positive. Vemuri said,” I don’t need to move across the stage of a government organization that is responsible in this genocide.” ” I’m disappointed, however, that MIT’s leaders substantially overstepped their jobs to punish me without merit or expected process, and there is no evidence of any particular policy being violated,” she continued. Megha Vemuri, a science student from MIT, has deleted her LinkedIn and X records in the wake of the criticism.
