Immigration authorities reportedly tried to capture an illegal immigrant by dressing up as energy workers or in plain clothing. According to one of the witnesses, two people in business dress appeared in a southern Tucson neighborhood on Wednesday night to inquire about a native of Honduran who had resided there for more than ten years, according to a report from the Arizona Daily Star. According to witness Christine Cario, the individuals posed as Tucson Electric Power ( TED ) representatives and informed neighbors that they were responding to the man’s request for city services. He said,” We’re trying to find someone that wanted a complimentary estimate,” said Cario, who was tending to her plants outside. One wore a introspective work shirt, the other a dark t-shirt, and Cario noted that their clothes differed from the typical TED outfits. When they remained questioning her about her neighbor, she became watchful. She questioned their DHS involvement after noticing a symbol beneath one boy’s clothing. He simply grinned. So I started running, Cario said. Cario began contacting the men after they gained access to the Honduran patient’s garden through his son. They don’t have a permit, so don’t open the door! She yelled, as seen in the video that KGUN 9 obtained. They’re lying, and they don’t wear a uniform! Immigration officers compel the owner to give their consent before entering the building. Cario suggests that these individuals fabricated their identities to gain access. The agents, who spoke through the doorway, claimed the Honduran had disputed the agent’s claim that he had missed appointments with the immigration judge before refusing to leave. Immigration authorities have reportedly used similar tactics throughout the country, which were previously rejected as unconstitutional in a California complaint filed by the 2020 ACLU, which is still unsettled. Another instance from Dellas involved ICE agents waiting in the Dallas immigration judge hallways, allegedly dressed in plain clothes, to create arrests.
