In response to rising tensions between China and Taiwan, as reported by The Eurasian Times, Beijing sent two aircraft carrier strike teams and several vessels to the waterways both north and south of Taiwan next month. A security official who requested anonymity claimed that between May 1 and May 27, around 70 Chinese warships, including naval boats, were tracked from the Yellow Sea to the South China Sea. According to The Eurasian Times, China has increased the implementation of warships and fighter planes around Taiwan in recent years, pressuring Taipei to accept its claims to be the island’s sovereign. China continues to face the risk of an invasion of Taiwan as it uses military power to regain its dominance. According to the security official,” their military activities and grey-zone operations have resulted in significant deployments across the whole area network, representing a method of complete maximum pressure,” according to The Eurasian Times. Between 50 and 70 marine and government vessels have been conducting harassment missions regularly, along with hundreds of flights by various military aircraft, according to the report. According to the official, some of the warships” travelled through the Miyako Strait into the Western Pacific Ocean for long-range education, including included air-sea activities,” as cited by The Eurasian Times. An extra 30 unknown Chinese ships were discovered close to Taiwan’s Penghu archipelago in the Taiwan Strait on May 19 and were “intentionally deployed to intimidate” them, the official claimed. The Eurasian Times highlighted the fact that 75 Foreign aircraft participated in three” combat readiness inspections” close to the area during the month, according to Taiwan’s defense government. These activities by China were a sign of a “military development” efforts aimed at securing control of the “entire area network and enhancing their capabilities,” the national said. China has conducted a number of large-scale military exercises close to Taiwan since Lai took company, according to The Eurasian Times.
