The North Carolina Department of Public Safety (NCDPS) is holding SAFE ( secure all firearms effectively ) week of action from June 1 through June 7, an initiative aimed at promoting safe firearm storage throughout the state. To reduce gun thefts and other gun-related injuries, the strategy includes local events and education outreach. By distributing completely gun locks and sharing knowledge about healthy storage methods, NCDPS and the Asheville Police Department work together to advance the cause. The event will take place on June 3rd, from 2 to 6 am, at 800 Brevard Road. Gun incidents from vehicles have tripled over the past ten years, according to a declaration from government Josh Stein, according to FBI data. Ten locations in North Carolina were ranked among the top 100 in the country in terms of reported weapons incidents from vehicles in 2022.
