Two Charged with Smuggling a ‘Dangerous Biological Pathogen.’ Guess Where They’re From?

According to a statement released on Tuesday from United States Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr., Cheyvoryea Gibson, a special agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ), Detroit Division, and Marty C. Raybon, director of field operations with U. S. Customs and Border Protection, two people have been” charged in a criminal complaint with conspiracy, smuggling goods into the United States, false statements, and visa fraud.”

The two were allegedly smuggling” a fungi called Fusarium graminearum,” according to the announcement, which is considered by medical literature to be a possible agroterrorism weapon. This toxic fungus is the root of “head blight,” a disease that affects wheat, barley, maize, and grain, and is responsible for billions of dollars in annual economic losses around the world. The toxins in Fusarium graminearum reason human and animal reproduction problems, including vomiting, liver damage, and sexual problems.

You enquire about who the two were. Yunqing Jian, 33, and her partner, 34, Zunyong Liu, 34, both from China, were there. &nbsp,

Jian has been employed by the University of Michigan’s Chemical Plant-Microbe Interaction Laboratory since 2023 as a doctoral fellow. Lui is a researcher at a Taiwanese school who studies the same pathogen.

When providers inquired about the materials in question last month, Liu, who evidently arrived in the United States on a B2 holiday card, lied and claimed he had no idea what they were and that they had been planted in his case. Eventually, he changed his story and claimed that he had only wanted to travel to work with his partner and that he had “hid the samples in his backpack” because he was aware of the restrictions on the export of the materials. Jian reportedly owns electronics that” contains details describing her account in and loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party” and that the Chinese government has even given her funding.

The condition “demonstrates a major national security threat to America’s foods offer,” according to FBI director Kash Patel, according to Fox News Digital. He continued,”

This event serves as a somber recall that the Chinese Communist Party is still employing operatives and researchers to sneeze at our food supply, a move that could devastate our business and put American lives at risk. A known agroterrorism representative is a known agroterrorism broker, and entering the United States is not just a violation of the law; it also poses a clear threat to national security. I applaud the FBI Detroit Division and our CBP partners for putting an end to this genetic threat before it could seriously harm us.

The most pressing issues facing federal safety, according to Gorgon, are the alleged actions of these Foreign nationals, including one who is a devoted supporter of the Chinese Communist Party. These two creatures have been accused of bringing a fungus, which has been hailed as a “potential agroterrorism weapons” into the heartland of America, where they allegedly intended to use a University of Michigan labs to advance their plot.

This is violence, after all. A Foreign national and Research Fellow at @UMich attempted to bring a dangerous disease into the United States that resulted in birth defects and liver damage. This is why it is important to be aware of who is in our nation and in our institutions. There was always more to this. photograph. twitter.com/CSUbg9SHv7— House Committee on Education & Workforce ( @EdWorkforceCmte ) June 3, 2025

Rubio: We May” Violently Revoke Visas for Chinese Learners.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio made the announcement last week that the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security did “aggressively withdraw visas for Taiwanese students, including those with contacts to the Chinese Communist Party or those studying in important areas.” &nbsp,

Rep. Riley M. Moore (R-W. Va. ) stated in March that,” Every year, we grant nearly 300,000 Chinese nationals student visas.” Practically speaking, we’ve invited the CCP to eavesdrop on on our defense, smuggle our intellectual property, and harm our country’s protection. Five Chinese nationals were recently detained by the FBI for student visas after being caught filming shared US-Taiwan live-fire military exercises. &nbsp, &nbsp,

The CCP is one of the greatest challenges to our nation, if not the&nbsp, and I’m happy the Donald Trump administration is acting in this direction to safeguard our objectives. This desire it just increases from here. &nbsp,

We at PJ Media believe it’s important to promote these events and highlight what our nation faces after centuries of impunity, especially when it comes to protecting our edges and points of entry. &nbsp,
