DAMASCUS: Defense minister Israel Katz claimed he held Syria’s head “directly accountable” after the Israeli army said it was shelling goals in Syria on Tuesday in response to a pair of missile launches. The country’s foreign affairs ministry said the state “has always been and will never be a danger to anyone in the area” and denied firing the projectiles. The strikes, according to Israeli media, were the first from Syria to enter Jewish territory since Bashar al-Assad’s regime was overthrown in December. Israeli air raid sirens were not reported as a result of the weapons, which the government claimed triggered heat raid sirens in some of the southern Golan Heights, a country Israel conquered from Syria in 1967 and seized in 1981.
Israel Katz, the country’s defense minister, stated in a statement that” we view the leader of Syria as straight liable for any risk or flames directed at the state of Israel.” Ahmed al-Sharaa, the time leader of Syria, was in charge of the Islamist organization that spearheaded the rude that eventually led to Assad’s ouster. Two weapons were identified crossing from Syria into Israeli territory, according to the Jewish military, and two of them fell in open areas, according to a later statement from the Israeli government. SANA, the country’s top media company, reported shooting “targeting the Yarmuk Basin, in the west of Daraa.” Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based battle screen, claimed bombardments had hit land in the state without making any reports of casualties. Following Jewish aerial strikes immediately on Tuesday through Wednesday, violent explosions erupted in southern Syria, particularly the town of Quneitra and the Daraa area, according to a statement from the monitor.
Not a threat
Syria criticized the Jewish shooting as a “blatant infraction of Arab sovereignty” that “aggravates conflicts in the region.” In a statement released by SANA, the foreign government stated that” Syria has never been and will always be a danger to anyone in the place.” The government denied being responsible for the attacks, but claimed that “numerous parties are trying to destabilize the place in the name of their own interests.” The state’s top priority in southeastern Syria is to expand its authority and close the possession of weapons outside of formal organizations, it continued. Israel moved its troops into the UN-patrolled demilitarized zone in the Golan Heights after Assad’s overthrow and has launched plenty of attacks against military priorities in Syria. Israel claims that the cuts are intended to deter jihadists from entering Syria’s new government. Israeli forces said on Sunday that they were carrying out “defensive functions in southern Syria” to “protect the occupants of the Golan Heights and destroy terrorist system.” Physically speaking, Syria and Israel have been at war since 1948. Experts claim that this desire is far from being realized despite US President Donald Trump’s announcement last month that sanctions on Syria have been lifted.
