Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in my opinion, is a little bit under the body of China.  ,
Rubio posted the following on X: to honor the celebration of the Tiananmen Square Massacre:

We honor the bravery of the honest people killed and imprisoned that day in Tiananmen Square and recall the brutal crackdown by the Chinese Communist Party 36 years ago. The CCP don’t remove the individual principles that freedom, politics, and self-rule are.
— Secretary Marco Rubio ( @SecRubio ) June 3, 2025
He even made a longer speech via the State Department:  ,
Tens of thousands of students gathered in Beijing’s largest public square in the spring of 1989 to pay their respects to the late Chinese Communist Party (CCP ) leader who had vowed to make China a more open and democratic society. Their actions sparked a nationwide activity. In order to promote democracy, human rights, and an end to widespread corruption, hundreds of thousands of ordinary persons in the money and throughout China took to the streets for weeks to practice their rights of appearance and quiet assembly. In an effort to quell the pro-democracy sentiments of unarmed civilians gathered on Beijing’s streets and in Tiananmen Square, the CCP launched a brutal crackdown, prompting the People’s Liberation Army ( PLA ) to launch fire.
The CCP makes active attempts to censor the information, but the world will never forget. We honor the bravery of the Chinese people who were killed on June 4, 1989 in an effort to bring justice and accountability for their fundamental freedoms as well as those who continue to endure persecution. Their bravery in the face of a certain danger serves as a reminder that the values of freedom, democracy, and self-government are not just American values. The CCP cannot change these human values.

As you might expect, China wasn’t all that enthusiastic about this. Beijing was filing a formal complaint with the United States, according to Lin Jian, the country’s spokesman for the foreign ministry. He continued,” The erroneous statements by the U.S. side intentionally distort historical facts, deliberately attack China’s political system and development path, and seriously interfere in China’s internal affairs.”
Rubio’s comments were supported by Taiwanese President Lai Ching in a Facebook post, saying that Taiwan will not “forget history.” The following has been translated into English:” Authoritarian governments frequently choose to silence and forget history, while democratic societies choose to preserve the truth and refuse to forget those who have influenced the development of human rights,” he said, adding that” the international community needs to address the threat posed by authoritarianism together, whether it is through long arms infiltration, free society surveillance, infiltration, cross-border oppression, or other means endangering our cherished way of life.
Jian also addressed the controversy surrounding Rubio’s comments on Wednesday, which included his criticism of the two Chinese nationals who earlier this week attempted to import dangerous biological pathogens into the United States, which could spread illness and sabotage our food supply. Additionally, the two men had close ties to the Communist Party of China.  ,

Jian continued,” I have no knowledge of the relevant situation,” adding that the Chinese government has always required Chinese nationals living abroad to vigorously abide by local laws and regulations. It will also respect the law by upholding the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese nationals living abroad. Yes, I completely agree with that.  ,
For what it’s worth, China also became furious last week when the Donald Trump administration halted all international student visa appointments, and Rubio revealed that the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security would be working together to “aggressively revoke visas for Chinese students, including those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or those studying in critical fields.”
Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry, responded by stating that it “urges the United States earnestly safeguard the legitimate and legitimate rights and interests of all international students, including those from China.”
I’m not sure about you, but I’ll take a lot more of it. Or at least a hammer might be better than a scalpel ( Commie pun not intended ). China has been operating quietly for far too long, and it still poses the greatest threat to the United States. We must prioritize our own natural interests once more, which includes taking the CCP down a notch or ten and revealing to them who the real superpower is.  ,

Rubio gave an incredible speech on this subject last night at the American Compass Fifth Anniversary Gala, though not specifically on China. In essence, he gave a history lesson on how we have deviated from our own national interests over the past few decades of American foreign policy.
The notion that our foreign policy should be focused on what is good for the United States should be completely lost, based on the location and the issue. We have a tendency to make decisions in foreign policy based on whether or not they benefit the world or the international order. And I’m not saying that those things are irrelevant, but the United States must have the top priority in our foreign policy, and the United States must prioritize what is in the United States ‘ best interests,” he said.
Rubio continued:” Â
That is not isolationism. That is acceptable. In contrast, we must engage in the world in order to do that. However, we must act in a way that places our country’s interests before everything else. And the reason we do that goes against my initial observation about human nature. And that is exactly what other nations do all the time. Virtually every nation-state we interact with places a high priority on their national interest when they interact with us. And we need to start doing that once more, and we’re beginning to do that once more by putting the United States ‘ national interest above everything else when making these foreign policy choices.
