Gov. of Nebraska The Stand With Women Act, which forbids biological men from competing in women’s activities in K-12 colleges as well as colleges and universities, was signed into law by Jim Pillen on Wednesday.
The regulation states that having individual athletic teams based on the gender of the performer reduces the risk of harm to female athletes, promotes equality between the sexes, gives female athletes opportunities to compete against their sexual peers, and allows female athletes to compete on a fair performing field for scholarships and other sport accomplishments, and that this does so because of the natural differences between men and women.
Pillen praised the growth at a filing meeting, saying the move “is truly a big deal” for our young folks, for our children, standing up for women, and that standing up for the principles of Nebraska is a big deal.
The bill’s passage was tumultuous prior, and attempts to outlaw biological men from women’s locker rooms and bathrooms didn’t get the final approval.
During the signing ceremony, state senator Kathleen Kauth said,” We were only able to get the athletic portion on, but I will be back next year bringing you the bathrooms and the locker rooms …the work is not finished.”
KOLN reported that some people are unsatisfied, such as OutNebraska Executive Director Abbi Swatsworth, who stated:” We are disappointed by the signing of LB 89, a transgender youth sports ban, into law today. Our hearts are broken for the young people and families who are celebrating Pride this month while also grappling with the reality of this harmful legislation.
Conservatives applauded the development, though.
According to Alliance Defending Freedom Legal Counsel EricaO’Connell in a statement,” Letting men invade women and girls ‘ sports teams is an invasion of privacy, a threat to their safety, and a denial of the real biological differences between the sexes,” adding Kauth and the Nebraska Family Alliance played a significant role in its passage.
” Nebraska is right to protect the safety and dignity of women and girls by ensuring that female athletes of all ages have a fair and equal playing field.”
