Are you eligible for smart gates at Dubai airport? Find out how to check and use them!
Dubai International Airport ( DXB ) Smart Gates / GDRFA Dubai

A state-of-the-art, automated passport control system is accessible at both Dubai International Airport ( DXB ) and Dubai World Airport ( DWC). To quickly and effectively discover travelers, these gates make use of facial recognition and biological verification technology. Smart Gates, which were created to streamline the immigration process, make it possible for qualified users to use their own passports to be stamped and screened for documents. Arriving and departing at Dubai’s airports are quicker, smart, and very useful when registered. When verified, passengers can just walk up to the gate, look into a camera, and then pass through the security system in a few seconds.

Who is able to utilize Smart Gates?

As long as they are registered, the following categories of passengers are permitted to use Smart Gates, according to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs ( GDRFA-Dubai ):

    • Members of the Dubai
    • Gulf Cooperation Council ( GCC ) members
    • People of the Dubai
    • Guest with biological passports who need visa-on-arrival
    • Friends with Schengen Union visas
    • recipients of pre-issued visas

Note: At least 1.2 meters in height may be required for authorized people.

Who is unable to utilize Smart Gates?

Perhaps if they fall under one of the above categories, some people are not ready to use the Smart Gates. Among these are:

    • Citizens of Determination ( individuals who have disability or other limitations )
    • Customers with massive walkers
    • families with children
    • Customers less than 1.2 feet tall

How do DXB/DWC apply the Smart Gates?

Once you have found out that you are registered to use Smart Gates, here is how to use it:1. Enter the Smart Gate, which is a separate section at passport control, and stand on the ‘foot’ sign.2. Next, remove anything covering your face, such as masks, glasses and hats. Your boarding pass and passport should be at hand if required.3. Then look at the green light on top of the camera to verify your biometrics and follow the instructions on the screen.4. Once your biometrics are approved, the Smart Gates will open, and your passport control process is done. For somePeople of the Dubai, once registered, you don’t need to scan your passport or Emirates ID at the Smart Gate.
