A nice Samaritan managed to stop two carjackings in Cobb County, Georgia, in just a few minutes and stop the criminal from fleeing.
In Marietta, Georgia, on Monday night, the carjackings took place near the crossing of Delk Road and Franklin Gateway. According to the authorities, 66-year-old Gary Edwards ran to aid the victims in both cases.
” Choosing to engage in a violent situation may be a personal choice that is carefully weighed against the dangers involved.” We applaud Edwards for his swift steps, which protected a number of community members, Marietta authorities said in a news release on Thursday.
According to the police, Rico Riley, a 32-year-old man from Chevron, was seen walking near an empty Chevrolet parked at a Chevron gas station at around 9 p.m. citing security footage and see testimony. The would-be car criminal grabbed her and fought for the keys when the car’s owner made an attempt to enter her vehicle.
She is in the car at one place, and he pulls her up. She pulls him out after he enters the auto,” police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy told Channel 2 Action News.
According to authorities, the conflict lasted for about a second before Edwards ran away and called 911 from a restaurant across the street.
” We walked out of the restaurant and audibly heard a female screaming,” Edwards, who was with his family at the time, told the news station.
After the altercation, Riley reportedly attempted to carjack a Toyota, which was claimed by two people and their 2-year-old. Once more, Edwards intervened and therefore held Riley at gunpoint while officers arrived, according to the authorities.
At that point, Edwards recalled that” I took it into my own hands and made him get out of that car and get on the ground.”
Riley is accused of attempting to steal trained weapons, attempting to steal children, and drug possession. Without a relationship, he continues to be held in the Cobb County prisons.
