On Saturday, Trump signed a national document in which he oversaw 2, 000 National Guard members, the first of whom arrived in the city early on Sunday morning. Democrats decried the action, but the majority of Republicans were unwavering in their help.
Sen. James Lankford (R-OK ) compared the current position to the protests that broke out across the country after George Floyd passed away in 2020.
