Kamala Harris, a former US evil leader, harshly criticized US President Donald Trump‘s determination to build the National Guard in her hometown of Los Angeles on Monday, calling it a “dangerous increase meant to inspire chaos.” Her remarks have sparked a reaction in the political climate and rekindled argument over federal treatment in regional demonstrations. Harris blasted the recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) raids and the deployment of the National Guard in a statement shared on X, accusing the Trump administration of using fear as a political weapon. The National Guard’s deployment is a risky increase meant to cause chaos, she wrote. It is part of the Trump Administration’s violent, calculated plan to distribute section and fear, according to the statement from ICE. Protests erupted across Los Angeles over the weekend following a wave of immigration attacks in Latino communities. Demonstrators clashed with police, blazing cars, blocking significant thoroughfares, and blocking main thoroughfares. Trump retaliated by sending 2, 000 National Guard troops, some of whom were members of California’s 79th Infantry Brigade. His administration argued that stopping what he called “insurrectionist baddies” was important, but Harris, the former attorney general of California, argued that the government’s strategy was one of public health. The actions of this Administration are not about public protection; they are about stoking concern. Concern that a community is requesting justice and impunity, even though Harris claims that “demonstrations in defense of our immigrant neighbors have been largely peaceful”. Police dispersed crowds using flash-bangs and smoke grenades. At least three self-driving Waymo cars were reportedly set on fire by protesters, who also reportedly smashed into ICE facilities and slowed visitors. Harris praised protesters for exercising their right to protest, saying:” Protest is a potent tool — necessary in the fight for justice… I continue to back the millions of Americans who are fighting for the most basic rights and liberties we have. Trump was supported by House Speaker Mike Johnson, who blamed California governor Gavin Newsom for gaining power and claimed that the Guard was needed to restore purchase. Trump made hints at a larger military conflict, also suggesting he might use the Insurrection Act. Newsom criticized the national rollout and characterized it as a violation of state sovereignty. He wrote,” We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved.” The protests were billed as a defense of immigrant right because of how” this is a serious violation of state sovereignty causes conflicts while diverting resources from where they are actually needed.” But, a CBS News poll conducted prior to the turmoil revealed that a small percentage of Americans were in favor of the crackdown on illegal immigration.
