According to Gulf News, Aldar Education, in partnership with the exclusive King’s College School of the United Kingdom, King’s College School Wimbledon, has announced the opening of the first local college of the British establishment in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge ( ADEK ) will need regulatory approvals before the new K-12 school can start operations in September 2028. Fahid Island, the emirate’s newest luxury mixed-use destination, will be the site of the new K-12 school. The school will have a 50, 000-square-foot campus and can accommodate up to 2, 220 students, giving students a super-premium American education that will give them a direct route to the best universities in the world. This is the first class confirmed for Fahid Island following its official launch next week, and it represents a significant step in Aldar’s wider training strategy.

The impending school will incorporate state-of-the-art classrooms, a robust sports infrastructure, and a strong emphasis on student wellness. The growth is in line with Aldar’s plan to make Fahid Island a fully equipped, high-end residential and commercial destination and supports the wider perspective for Fahid Island to encourage balanced, nature-integrated habits. Aldar confirmed in a speech to Gulf News that the region’s masterplan may involve more hotels and educational facilities, strengthening the appeal of the destination as a fully integrated lifestyle community. The university’s systematic approach to education, which is rooted in strong values, rich co-curricular programs, and personalised rural maintenance, may include a new dimension to Aldar Education’s giving, according to Sahar Cooper, CEO of Aldar Education. This will further help Abu Dhabi’s efforts to become a regional hub for excellence in education.

expanding access to education in Abu Dhabi

This new addition is a part of Aldar Education’s larger growth plan, which includes expanding its network to Yas Island, Khalifa City, and Saadiyat Island. By the 2028–2029 academic year, Aldar plans to increase its number of student seats by more than 4, 000, ensuring a wider range of high-quality, diverse educational opportunities throughout the emirate. The second major British university to be announced in recent months is the King’s College School Wimbledon campus in Abu Dhabi, with Harrow confirming a location through Taaleem.
