Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) was denied entry into the Los Angeles Federal Building on Sunday during the major riots in Los Angeles, California.
According to The Daily Caller, Waters was attempting to enter the Los Angeles Federal Building on Sunday to check on Service Employees International Union Local President David Huerta, who had been detained in a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid.
A video shared on X, formerly Twitter, shows Waters approaching the Los Angeles Federal Building and attempting to use her status as a U.S. congresswoman to gain access to the building and check on Huerta.
“Hello, hello, hello,” Waters can be heard saying in the video. “I just came to use my congressional authority to check on David Huerta.” In response, a federal agent told Waters, “Ma’am, our lobby is secure right now to all visitors.”

Despite being denied entry to the building, Waters told the agent, “Excuse me, I need to get in.” However, the federal agent told the Democrat congresswoman to contact the public affairs office and closed the door, preventing Waters from accessing the building.
Asked by reporters what she was hoping to do at the federal building, Waters said, “I just want to see David Huerta.” The Democrat congresswoman explained that Huerta had been arrested after being “targeted” by federal officials.
“I don’t know what they’re doing with him,” Waters told reporters. “I don’t know whether they’re going to deport him. I want to report back to my caucus what is happening.”
According to Fox News, Waters was later observed confronting the National Guard troops that were deployed to Los Angeles by President Donald Trump and his administration.
“This is Trump and his outrageous attempt to not only target our sanctuary city, but to frighten us and intimidate us,” Waters said. “This is wrong, and I hope that none of you will use those guns to shoot anybody… and allow them to make your service a service when you’re killing people.”
In another video, Waters can be heard asking the National Guard members, “What are you going to do? You’re going to shoot some kid?…You’re gonna shoot an elected official? If you shoot me, you better shoot straight.”
