California Guv slams Trump over ‘disrespect’ to troops: Photos show National Guard sleeping on floors

California Governor slams Trump over 'disrespect' to troops: Photos show National Guard sleeping on floors; sues administration over LA deployment

After viral videos showed them sleeping on the floor in cramped problems following their implementation to Los Angeles amid intensifying immigration protests, California Governor Gavin Newsom claimed US President Donald Trump had “disrespect” for treating National Guard troops. The conflict has turned into a legal fight, with Newsom’s office suing the Trump administration for what it describes as an unlawful and politically motivated rollout. You sent your army here without any food, water, or place to sleep, Newsom wrote on X, sharing images of soldiers squatting shoulder-to-shoulder. This is not about people health, they say. It’s about stumbling upon a dangerous President’s personality. This is foolish. Without purpose. And rude to our soldiers. The government claimed that the Trump administration had sent over 2, 000 National Guard members without simple products, and that only 300 of them had received energetic orders and were resting up in national buildings. Donald Trump treats his forces in this manner. Disgraceful, Newsom claimed in a different article. In response, a spokesman for the Pentagon, Sean Parnell, accused Newsom of “using the army as democratic props,” claiming that men “have prepared access to food and water” and that they were temporarily residing in less-than-ideal services as a result of the “fluid safety situation.” Additionally, Parnell continued,” When you’re a guy, you’re ready to sleep in worse areas than this.” Trump authorized the implementation of an extra 2, 000 soldiers, bringing the total number of Guard officers in Los Angeles to more than 4,100 according to federal law. The action comes after 700 US Marines were previously deployed to help local officials. The operation’s value is estimated to be$ 134 million, according to the Pentagon. According to Newsom’s lawsuit, the president’s use of emergency powers in this instance is unlawful, alleging that Trump used them to create a workable protest space for political gain. He “used a rally that regional officials had under control on Saturday, June 7 to launch yet another extraordinary power grab,” according to the lawsuit. Trump reacted at a press conference, suggesting that Newsom may be arrested for abusing governmental law. Trump reportedly referred to Border Czar Tom Homan as” I would do it, if I were Tom.” In testimony on Capitol Hill, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth defended the procedure, suggesting more for deployments might observe in the wake of Trump’s plan for a militarized homeland.” The National Guard and reserves become a crucial element of how we secure that homeland,” he said.
