Houthi rebels claimed on Tuesday that Israel attacked docks in Yemen’s port town of Hodeida, good causing damage to facilities that are essential to assisting shipments to the starving, war-wracked country. Israel did not respond to an Associated Press request for comment quickly and the Israeli government did not immediately recognize the attack. The Houthis have consistently launched missiles and drones at Israel during its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, but Tuesday’s claimed strike comes as they have done so at a But, the Houthis have been using them to attack Israel on several occasions. The Houthis made the attack known via their dish news agency, al-Masirah. Without going into more detail, they claimed the attack targeted boats it. Israel issued online instructions to Yemenis to leave Ras Isa, Hodeida, and al-Salif ships as of late on Monday because it thought the Houthi regime was using those ports for its alleged criminal activities. Since the Houthis seized Yemen’s money, Sanaa, in 2014, Hodeida is the main point of entry for meals and other humanitarian assistance for thousands of Yemenis. In what the team’s authority has described as an endeavor to put an end to Israel’s offensive in Gaza, the Houthis have been repeatedly launch missile and drone strikes against commercial and military ships in the area. The Houthis used missiles and drones to attack more than 100 vendor vessels, sinking two of them and killing four seamen between November 2023 and January 2025. The Red Sea corridor’s trade stream, which generally sees$ 1 trillion in goods flow through it annually, has been greatly impacted by this. The Houthis put a self-imposed peace in place until the US launched a wide assault on the rebels in mid-March. Trump argued that the rebels had” capitulated” to American needs just before his trip to the Middle East. US Secretary of defense Pete Hegseth reported on the social media platform X early on Tuesday that US Navy boats had “multiple times in recent time” been able to pass through the Red Sea and its Bab el-Mandeb Strait without being attacked by Houthi. Hegseth wrote in a letter to Congress prior to the second time since sharing sensitive defense information about America’s military campaign against the Houthis in a Signal talk that” These routes occurred without issue and show the success of both Operation Rough RIDER and the President’s Peace Through Strength agenda.” A wider, decade-long conflict between the Houthis and the country’s expelled state, supported by a Saudi-led coalition, is still in a stalemate in Yemen.
