Trump remarked,” I would undoubtedly invoke an insurrection if there was one.” ” We’ll notice. But I can tell you that last evening was awful.

. @POTUS on the violence in Los Angeles:” If there’s an rebellion, I had certainly invoke it. If we didn’t get involved, Los Angeles may be burning right now like it was burning a few months ago… We are not playing about.” photograph. twitter.com/UAGSJKSDuI— Rapid Response 47 ( @Rapid Response47 ) June 10, 2025

The Insurrection Act of 1807 gives the president the authority to deploy military forces to thwart uprisings or civil unrest within state. Trump has previously sparked controversy by calling in the National Guard to Los Angeles in opposition to the governor’s desires. Gavin Newsom (D-CA ), and he appears to be willing to take the next step if he sees fit.

In Los Angeles, rallies have been raging for days following national illegal immigration attacks, occasionally spilling out into violence that included property damage and setting electric cars on fire.

Trump described protesters hurling pieces of cement at police cars after breaking them off of street curbs during a speech in the Oval Office.

Los Angeles may become burning at the moment if we didn’t get involved, according to Trump.

To provide governors more authority over disaster relief, Trump presidency officials held an impromptu press conference on Tuesday.

But, after media members began asking questions, the subject immediately turned to the Los Angeles position.

When asked for a second time about the Insurrection Act, Trump said,” I may tell you there were some sections of Los Angeles last day, you could have called it an insurrection. It was awful. However, these are compensated as paramilitaries.

Trump remained ambiguous throughout about whether the word “insurrection” was correct, appearing to retain the option available if he felt like he needed it afterwards.

He said,” You could use the word uprising as well,” adding that you could use it. These people are extremely risky. They are evil individuals.

But he resolutely argued that his past deployments to the Marines and the National Guard were correct and on good legal ground.

In response to the 2020 Black Lives Matter demonstrations, Trump said,” I’ve been here before, and I went straight by every rule.” I waited for rulers to state,” Take in the National Guard.” They simply wouldn’t do it because they wouldn’t do it.

House GOP should increase communication, asks Karoline Leavitt.

He continued,” I told myself, we have to make faster selections if that thing happens again.”

When asked when the National Guard may depart from Los Angeles, Trump responded,” Until there’s no harm.”
