A health reform party claims that a” Minority Fellowship Program” administered by the Department of Health and Human Services is “discriminatory.”
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration does not specifically express that it excludes light applicants from the system.
But, it “especially encourages” individuals from American American, Alaskan Native, American Indian, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders to use.
Would No Harm claims that prioritizing the selection of particular racial groups for important options like the MFP is also discriminatory. The organization frequently files complaints against unfair programs.
Only one of the 29 members of the 2023-2024 Resident Fellowship Program cohort, which was administered by the American Psychiatric Association, was light, according to the group’s press transfer. Legislation that is in line with the Administration’s work, such as the EDUCATE Act, may further codify rules that end unfair and controversial DEI, promoting fairness and excellence.
Senate John Kennedy, a Republican from Louisiana, has introduced a law to restrict La programs in medical universities that receive federal funding.
The Fix emailed SAMSHA to inquire about how it would respond to reviewers like Do No Harm and whether it had taken any steps to ensure that all plans adhere to governmental law. The agency responded to a follow-up phone call about a week later, but the agency chose not to.

The Fix also asked the HHS for the same questions in a media demand, asking if it was interested in checking the scholarship program to make sure it complied with the law. A week later, The Fix responded with a message communication, but it never received a response.
Courses that discriminate against people based on race have been subject to legal scrutiny under the Trump presidency.
