The party posts” We are never going somewhere,” as it goes on social media.
DePaul University cited the university’s Catholic personality when it announced to a scholar group connected to Planned Parenthood that it was no longer able to operate on school. The party is, nevertheless, retaliating.
On its Instagram account, Planned Parenthood Generation Action claims to provide” comprehensive and inclusive sexual solutions for all at DePaul University.”
According to a scholar group’s Instagram post, PPGA officials and faculty officials met with DePaul officials on June 3.
The organization was informed that it was being quickly disbanded, preventing it from holding activities or carrying on its business.
However, it appears that the organization won’t dismantle.
We are not going anywhere and will continue to be a group, but we need as little suggestions and support as possible to decide how to carry on our activities. We’re looking forward to seeing you all this Friday and seeing what we can do up,” the message on the Instagram post read.
Additionally, the group claimed that its dissolution was entirely due to its partnership with Planned Parenthood and that it did not violate any college regulations or policies.
We fully complied with the DePaul administration’s constantly evolving objectives and abided by its mission statement, which prioritizes our integrative movement, Vincentian, and reproductive justice values. Our chapter’s removal from the DePaul and Chicago areas is a significant harm to their well-being, it wrote.
Additionally, the organization announced that it will hold a Town Hall on June 13 to address the problem both in person and over the phone.
All are welcome to attend, but merely General Body users and students can cast their votes on how to proceed, according to DePaul PPGA.
Following the meeting, the group also posted a picture of a letter the university administration sent them.
Interim Vice Presidents Kimberlie Goldsberry and Mark Laboe wrote,” In accordance with DePaul’s Catholic and Vincentian personality, PPGA’s undergraduate business law is no longer approved and PPGA’s reputation as a registered student firm at DePaul is deactivated due to its affiliation with the outside group Planned Parenthood.”
From this point forward, they wrote,” There may no longer be any social media posts representing PPGA at DePaul University.”
The administration also informed the students that they could form a class that would promote “reproductive rights,” provided it wasn’t associated with any outside groups that would violate the school’s Catholic values.
The administrators wrote,” We will be happy to work with you and will promote the review position through OSI’s new pupil business acceptance process,”” If you would like to create a new student organization.”
DePaul PPGA announced earlier this year in a separate social media post that it offers free contraception, Plan B, and pregnancy testing to kids away from their campuses.
