US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Thursday that the US had been informed that Israel viewed the attack as needed for self-defense but that the country had no intention of participating in Israeli strikes on Iran. When Tehran-based media reported the attacks, US President Trump was reportedly holding the yearly White House lunch on Thursday night. Rubio stated,” We are not involved in attacks against Iran, and our top priority is the protection of American troops in the region,” adding,” Let me be obvious: Iran does not violate US hobbies or personnel.” How much of the Israeli military had provided to the US in information and how far in advance was that information unclear.
