As part of its wider offensive against the Islamic Republic, Israel on Saturday attacked an inland factory at Phase 14 of Iran’s enormous South Pars oil industry in the Persian Gulf, expanding its assault on the country’s crucial energy field. According to a report from the semi-official Tasnim news agency, the struck on the upstream Step 14 processing plant forced the closure of a manufacturing platform at the field. One of Iran’s largest factories techniques oil from both the Nar and Kangan areas, but a separate fire also erupted at the Fajr Jam oil refinery, which processes oil from South Pars as well as the Nar and Kangan fields. Although first investigations suggest angry drones may have been involved, the Fajr Jam factory incident has not been officially investigated, according to Tasnim, without citing a source.
