
According to a report from Dawn, movement restrictions have been put in place for Chinese nationals in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP ) region. Foreign citizens are required to go in the area with them in armored vehicles by the KP state.
A senior officers official made the announcement at a conference on Wednesday. Tahir Ayub Khan, deputy inspector general of police in Hazara range said,” As we’re adopting all possible measures for the safety of Chinese nationals, they should n’t travel in the province without armoured vehicles in line with the government’s directions”.
The meeting, convened to address safety concerns for the Suki Kinari electricity job in the Malkandi region of Kaghan Valley, brought along numerous stakeholders, including safety personnel, Foreign engineers, and project managers. Discussions focused on the application of strict security measures to protect the lives of those working on crucial infrastructure projects, as Dawn reported.
DIG Tahir Ayub Khan reiterated the government’s commitment to upholding high-security norms during page audits of the Suki Kinari and Balakot hydropower projects. He cited plans to build limit walls of at least eight feet in height that could be reinforced with barbed wire for added safety for private territories that house Chinese professionals and workers.
Following a recent event in which a fleet of Chinese engineers working on the Dasu electricity project in Shangla city was targeted in a murder attack that left people dead, these increased security measures were introduced.
