Following the government’s senate’s overwhelmingly positive vote in favor of legislation that shields minors from such methods, South Carolina may soon get the 25th state to outlaw transgender-related child cleaning and mutilation.
According to a statement from the Associated Press, the South Carolina Senate voted 28 to 8 on Thursday to end transgender-related medical treatments for minors. All Republicans and one Democrat were present.
The policy would presumably prevent health maintenance professionals , from performing trans- related , sterilization and mutilation surgeries, prescribing puberty blockers, and overseeing hormone treatments for patients under the age of 18.
Parents or guardians would be required to be informed if their child requests to be called anything other than their legal name while attending school, as well as if the child requests to be referred to by pronouns that do n’t match their biological sex.
The bill did also , stop people from using Medicaid ( taxpayer funds ) to cover the costs of trans- related medical treatments.
The South Carolina House , passed the bill in January, The state’s Senate next made changes to the legislation, making it so that the House is either ballot to , adopt the new version or give it to a , conference committee of three members from each chamber to handle the differences.
According to South Carolina State Senator Richard Cash (R-District 3 ) on Thursday,” there are some issues in the nature of development, and one of them is that goes beyond what you believe and what I believe.”
” It’s rooted in creation”, Sen. Cash added. It has its roots in the father, and those who opposed do so in some way because they disagree with the nature of construction itself.
If South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster ( R ) signs the bill, The Palmetto State would become the 25th state to outlaw sterilization and mutilation for minors.
