On Friday, a displaced people’s station in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo was attacked with a strong American condemnation.
When movement tents on the fringes of Goma were shelled, there were at least 12 fatalities and lots of serious injuries.
According to the US State Department,” Rwanda Defense Forces ( RDF) and M23 positions” were the targets of the Mugunga camp’s attack.
More than 2.5 million people have been displaced in eastern DRC as a result of the new RDF and M23 development, the statement read.
African armed forces and M23 blame each additional
In recent months, thousands of people have sought refuge in Goma as a result of fighting between the Congolese troops and M23 insurgents.
Kinshasa, United Nations officials and American forces have long accused neighboring Rwanda of supporting the M23 rebels, everything Kigali denies.
After the defense destroyed a dissident weapons and ammunition depot on Friday night, a spokeswoman for the Rwandan armed forces claimed M23 rebels fired on the refugee camps.
Rwandan forces were blamed on the M23 insurgent group, who denied any involvement in the attacks.
The attacks “were a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and may entail a war crime,” according to the UN.
Tshisekedi leaves Europe earlier.
Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi cut shorter a trip to Europe following Friday’s problems.
He claimed earlier this week that Rwanda was “attacking this brutality by disguising this aggression using M23” while making a stop in Germany to satisfy Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Tshisekedi, who was acting as a media partner for the African Union ( AU), claimed that Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame was trying to sabotage Joao Lourenco before the attacks on Friday.
” There is now what we believe to be a past- ditch effort, and I want to offer peace a prospect as much as possible… we’re not always going to be calm like this, wishing for serenity”, Tshisekedi told DW.
French President Emmanuel Macron demanded Rwanda stop supporting the M23 insurgent team during a press conference held in Paris with Tshisekedi.
