According to a statement from Toronto Star source Shaquille Morgan, firearm-related crime is rising in intensely gun-controlled Canada.
Morgan pointed to data from American authorities, noting” there , were 9, 198 victims of weapon- related murder” in Canada in 2022.
The price of gun-related crime increased by 10 % compared to 2021 and by 60 % compared to 2013.
Morgan zeroed in on firearms, explaining that “63 per share of weapon- related murders were committed with a handgun”.
Morgan cited the strict weapon controls that have been implemented in Canada over the years as well. During that time frame” the federal government has expanded background investigations, banned 1, 500 models of assault weapons, imposed a nationwide gun ice and committed ,$ 250 million  , to address the root causes of firearm and group murder”.
The handgun freeze, according to Public Safety Canada, “interjures the sale, purchase, or transfer of handguns by individuals within Canada, and… bringing newly acquired handguns into Canada.”
In Canada, applicants must take an approved gun safety course before the process of obtaining a license to do so.
