Original Georgia Lieutenant Gov. In the upcoming 2024 presidential election, Geoff Duncan ( R ) made it clear that he would support a “decent person ” like President Joe Biden over a “criminal defendant without a moral compass.” ”
In an op-ed written in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Duncan criticized Republicans who “fall in line ” behind former President Donald Trump, labeling it as “disappointing ” and arguing that those who decide to support Trump as the Republican presidential nominee are “dead wrong ” in that mentality.
Beginning with Sen. Duncan, Duncan remarked,” It’s disheartening to see an increasing number of Republicans fall in line behind past president Donald Trump. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), New Hampshire Gov. Bill Barr and Chris Sununu ( R ), both of whom have endorsed Trump, respectively.
Although Duncan acknowledged that Biden’s age was a source of grave concern, he claimed that the “GOP does not recover ” unless they “move on from the Trump era”:
Republicans like me have no choice but to support Biden, leaving conservative ( but not angry ) Republicans like me. The GOP will never be able to recover. We may work to establish a balance between allowing him to veto his second-term congressional plan and establishing a check and balance at the same time.
According to a recent Harvard-Harris poll, 57 % of Americans are concerned about Biden’s age, with 62 % of Republicans and 62 % of independents also concerned about his age. Twenty-six percentage of Democrats even expressed concerns about Biden’s time and mental health.
The poll also found that 66 percent of Americans believe Biden is “too old ” to be president. Out of this variety, 91 percent of Republicans, 77 percent of politicians, and 34 percentage of Democrats expressed that Biden was “showing he is very old. ”

The solution to Trump is a man who disqualified himself based on his actions and figure, Duncan continued. “The stories are fire with his hush-money test over allegations of inappropriate record-keeping for payment to suppress an affair with an adult-film sun, ” he said, referring to Trump’s business information test.
In connection with payments made to older entertainment legend Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election, Trump is already facing 34 counts of falsifying business data in the first level.
Duncan criticized Trump for coming up with a scheme that included ; using different votes from battle states such as Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, and Georgia and spreading “wild-eyed conspiracy theories. ”
Trump has shown us who he is, he said. He may be trusted, we suppose. To think he is going to change at the age of 77 is beyond improbable, ” Duncan added.
Duncan continued: “ Unlike Trump, “I’ve belonged to the GOP my entire life. I’m casting my ballot for a wonderful person in November to replace a morally shaky legal defendant. ”
Trump has never been criticized by the original Georgian lieutenant governor. In an interview with CNN in August 2023, Duncan said he was “embarrassed ” that millions of fellow Republicans saw Trump as a leader.
Donald has also recently stated that Trump needs to be in the “rearview picture.” ”
