The Rafah-Egypt border crossing and the Philadelphia road along the Egyptian border were the two main targets of the Israel Defense Forces ( IDF) attack on Hamas positions in southern Gaza on Monday.
As they battled for several hours along the three kilometers between the Gaza-Israel border and the Rafah borders cross, Jewish forces, including artillery and armoured forces, encountered average opposition from Hamas fighters.
Although some Israeli deaths were claimed to possess occurred, there were no reported Jewish deaths.
The Jewish flag was replaced by the Arab flag after an Israeli container arrived at the Rafah crossing for the first time in nearly 20 years.

In a speech, the IDF said:
IDF ground forces launched a precise counterterrorism operation over the course of the night ( Monday ), using IDF and ISA]intelligence to destroy Hamas terrorists and destroy its terrorist infrastructure in particular areas of eastern Rafah.  ,
Prior to the procedure, the Army encouraged residents in the area of southeast Rafah to partially leave to the expanded charitable region in Al- Mawasi, where the IDF has facilitated the expansion of field hospitals, tents, and an increase in water, food, and medical supplies. Prior to the start of the operation, international organizations working in the area were also advised to periodically evade.
Israeli troops managed to establish administrative control of the Gazan part of the crossing following information that suggested the Rafah Crossing in southeast Rafah was being used for criminal activities. Four Army soldiers were killed and a number of other men were hurt when four mortar were fired from the Rafah Crossing toward the Kerem Shalom Crossing on Sunday.
Also, as part of the operational activity, IDF ground troops and IAF fighter jets struck and eliminated Hamas evil targets in the Rafah region, including defense structures, underground system, and more terrorist infrastructure from which Hamas operated in the Rafah area. About 20 terrorists have been eliminated since the initial operational activity, and three tunnel shafts have been found. No injuries were reported.  ,
In the area of the Rafah Crossing in eastern Rafah, IDF ground forces are still fighting Hamas terrorists and infrastructure.
In order to stop Hamas’s leaders from fleeing Gaza or importing more weapons into Gaza during the ensuing battle for the town, which houses Hamas’s final four battalions, Israel hopes to secure the Rafah crossing.
Israel’s use of the Rafah crossing, according to the UN, would obstruct the flow of aid into Gaza. The United Nations objected to Hamas ‘ attack on the Kerem Shalom crossing over the weekend.
Northern Gaza is currently overstocked with humanitarian aid supplies, and nearby informal markets are said to be buzzing with a wide range of goods, despite the United Nations ‘ claim that Gaza is running low on fuel.
The IDF is expected to act slowly and methodically despite not knowing when the Israeli mission in Rafah will grow.
