Over 20 varieties of” light wrapped chocolate items” sent to Target, Walmart, Dollar General and Hy- Vi distributors in 17 states have been recalled because they might have bacteria.
Palmer Candy Company of Sioux Falls, Iowa, made and recalled all the recalled materials, including those that were distributed through some gas station convenience store chains.
According to Palmer’s FDA- posted understand notice,” Palmer Candy was notified by its water coating supplier that an ingredient that had been probably contaminated by one of their suppliers had the potential for contamination with salmonella.”
All of the providers ‘ customers may have a salmonella issue when an element supplier has a bacteria problem. But, this could be the first of many recalls.
Palmer says its materials went to Florida, California, Missouri, Texas, South Carolina, Alabama, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Salmonella, the CDC says,  , hospitalizes 26, 500 people in the United States , and kills about 420 periodically. The vast majority of the 1.35 million people who are infected each year endure vomiting, cramps, and fever for four to seven days.
