During a FOIA ask, Biden administration officials expressed concern about Hunter Biden’s open appearance with President Joe Biden while he was being investigated for gun and tax violations.
Hunter made a , series , of , people appearances , with his parents between 2021 and 2023. The images appeared to be a part of a public relations program intended to restore order to the discoveries that were found on his “laptop from hell.”
The public performances were never welcomed by Biden leaders, who , scrambled to control the implications of probable charges, according to messages released by the , State Department , under FOIA.

The first message, sent on April 28, 2022, came just after Joe Biden invited Hunter to the , White , House ‘s , monthly Easter Egg Roll,  , Telegraph , reported:
In one text to Stacey Thompson, the State Department’s House producer, an unknown national wrote:” But likewise, why is Hunter Biden anywhere near this administration actually”?

It was “only a matter of time” before editors began questioning Mr. Biden Jr.’s computer, according to officials from a separate email string the week before, and that it “might be worthwhile to have a few traces in our rear bag.”
In a separate email, from March 2023, officials discussed the “political pivots” for Antony Blinken, the secretary of state, to take in response to questions about the investigations into Mr Biden Jr. They even included potential responses Mr. Blinken might have to make to inquiries about the president’s son and laptop.
Up until December 2023, Hunter defied a congressional subpoena to testify. He continued to speak in public with his father. After he later capitulated to a closed door deposition, Hunter has remained mostly in the shadows.
Special counsel David Weiss filed three gun-related tax-related charges against Hunter in 2023, and he is currently serving 42 years in federal prison. Hunter’s trial related to tax violations is set-for-june-20-2024/”>set for , June 20. His gun related trial is tentatively set-for-june-20-2024/”>set for , June 3.

In November 2022, house investigators began an investigation into the Biden family. They revealed Joe Biden received money , from James Biden and Hunter Biden. They also showed that nine additional Biden family members , received , payments from the family’s foreign business ventures, including two of the president’s grandchildren.
