Russia’s deputy foreign secretary Sergei Ryabkov was quoted as saying on Thursday that it felt the need to increase its nuclear barrier because of what it perceived as their “escalatory” program.
State media firm RIA quoted Ryabkov as saying that Russia was no changing its own nuclear policy, which permits the use of nuclear weapons in the event of a state-related existential threat.
” At the moment, there are no modifications in this regard. However, the requirements for ensuring our protection are constantly being considered because the scenario is changing, Ryabkov said.
We warn our adversaries that, given their ascendancy, we must take actions that basically increase our punishment steps.
He said activities involving Russia’s tactical nuclear weapons, announced by Moscow earlier this year, were portion of those efforts.
