House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ) criticized President Joe Biden on FNC’s” Fox & Friends” on Thursday for claiming he would stop sending military aid to Israel if it invaded Rafah.
Johnson argued that Biden’s selection defied the will of Congress.
” Today, Mr. Speaker, in a unique stay- down interview yesterday, Joe Biden said that he is going to stop shipments of bombs and artillery shells to Israel if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu orders more invasions of Rafah and the Gaza Strip into the population areas”,” Fox &, Friends” carbon- host Ainsley Earhardt said. ” What’s your reaction? Did n’t you — I mean, y’all said we’re giving you money for these weapons, send these weapons over. Is he ready to do this without Congress”?
” Ainsley, he’s defying the will of Congress. And he’s defying what his own White House leading officers had assured me in writing and orally before the optional was passed, Johnson responded in response. The notion of keeping arms from Israel as a state for, you know, Joe Biden wanting to control their military presence that is fatal plan. It would be devastating to our closest alliance in the area, and it would directly conflict with the people of this body’s vote a few days ago.
” So they’ve got to reply to the American people and reply to us”, he added. ” And we’re on that right now”.
