Next month, George Clooney and Julia Roberts may meet President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama at a star-studded Hollywood charity.
” The large- report Trump event, set for middle- June, may feature a contest with Clooney and Roberts run across the campaign’s social media platforms to engage grassroots donors, as well as major celebrities and surrogates”, reported NBC News.
Clooney and Roberts, both of whom starred together in the movie Ocean’s 11, did likewise lend” their names for battle emails and text messages, in hopes of attracting more contributions”.
The Biden campaign’s latest fundraising success comes after it was reported that the campaign raised$ 26 million at a different star-studded event in New York in March. The campaign claimed that the event had set a fundraising record for a second occasion.
Although Biden has consistently trailed former president Trump in the surveys, his main benefit may be in cash funding, which may continue to trend. Per NBC News:
According to the most current filings with the Federal Election Commission, the Biden campaign had raised$ 43.8 million in March, almost tripling the total amount raised by the Trump campaign. When considering the Democratic National Committee’s financial status, the Biden campaign receives nearly twice as much money as Trump and the Republican National Committee, or$ 67 million.
The three-presidents gala at Radio City Music Hall boosted Team Biden’s solid March. But Trump answered up rapidly with his own high- money event in Palm Beach, Florida, in early April. His plan claimed that the event raised$ 50.5 million, some of which will likely be reflected in the upcoming FEC processing.
Biden, an increasingly , unhappy president, has been relying heavily on celebrity testimonials versus community support. As the , Associated Press , highlighted lately, Biden raised$ 26 million next month at a charity event with the help of celebrity- studded skills.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D- N. Y., was up first to warm up the crowd of about 5, 000 supporters. Entertainers, too, lined up to make the case for Biden. Mindy Kaling joked that it was nice to be in a room filled with” so many rich people,” while Lizzo sang” About Damn Time” and said she loved it that they were supporting a president who had made a clear pledge to “raise your taxes.”
At one point, Colbert said he suspected some Americans had forgotten some of the more concerning aspects of Trump’s presidency, including Jan. 6, 2021, when a mob of Trump supporters violently stormed the U. S. Capitol in a failed effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
The fundraiser had different tiers of access depending on a donor’s generosity. Other participating celebrities included Queen Latifah, Ben Platt, Cynthia Erivo and Lea Michele. Tickets were sold for as little as$ 225.
Regardless of his celebrity endorsements, the president’s approval rating now stands at a historic reelection low.
