Mayor Eric Adams ( D)’s temporary tax-supported immigrant housing policies were condemned by New York City Councilwoman Shahana Hanif, who suggested that taxpayers pay for immigrants ‘ permanent housing.
On Thursday, Hanif accused Adams of no wanting” New Yorkers to be happy” and denying them the chance to enjoy “permanent, respectable cover”.
The Democrat told NY1 that” the presidency simply does not want New Yorkers to be happy.”
Adams has been working to impose a 30-day ban on singles and families from providing house to illegal aliens. In January, Adams began issuing his second eviction notices.
Many of the removed immigrants are able to reapply for spots in the shelter system despite the evictions, so they are not always instantly barred from shelters once they are evicted.
Nevertheless, the whirling entry is not good enough for Hanif. She wants illegal immigrants to receive continuous cover from the taxpayers.
” What we’re witnessing is an administration that does not need people who have been warehoused in our house method to get moving into continuous, respectable housing”, Hanif exclaimed, adding,” Everyone deserves a house, no matter when they showed up”.
Hanif criticized Adams at a press conference and advocated for the country’s right to a safe home. Hanif also praised her” Stop Shelter Evictions Act” to put an end to the time restrictions.
” All New Yorkers, no matter when they arrive, deserve capital, no harm”, Hanif exclaimed, equating illegal aliens to” New Yorkers”, according to CBS News. ” What’s happening to children is mainly brutal”.
She criticized the moment restrictions in other comments and questioned why adults were forced to leave shelters after a few months of trekking thousands of miles in the forest to a position where they want to re-enter a career with the chance for democracy.
” This president”, she said accusatorially, “has created a split and uneven house method for asylum applicants”.
