The shooting occurred in Chicomuselo town in Mexico, which is known as a course for refugees and drug trafficking and has been the subject of cartel turf wars in recent months.
The deaths occurred in Morelia, a distant village within the town of Chicomuselo, situated near the border between Mexico and Guatemala.
At least some of the subjects of Tuesday’s murders appeared to be town inhabitants, despite there having been clashes between drug cartel as late as Monday.
As of Monday, medicine cartel fights have been occurring in the area. However, some of the subjects of Tuesday’s murders seemed to be regular residents of the town, related to any criminal activity.
In the Chiapas border region, there has been a lot of violence and movement as a result of the continuous turf war between the Jalisco and Sinaloa New Generation cartel.
