
One person was killed and 12 were hurt when a helicopter carrying the Armenian air force attempted an emergency landing in northern Afghanistan on Wednesday, according to the defense ministry.
The Mi17 plane encountered “technical problems” as it attempted to recover the bodies of people who had fallen into a valley in the northern Ghor state, Afghanistan’s Taliban- run Ministry of National Defence said in a speech.
The government added that the aircraft crashed during an attempt at an emergency landing.
After the U.S. led international troops withdrawn in 2021, the Taliban, an Islamist movement, seized control of Afghanistan and inherited a number of aviation from the causes of the Republican government it toppled.
Russian Mi17 energy helicopters have frequently been used in rescue operations, including the new floods that have caused hundreds of deaths in the northwestern region of the country. It is not known how many plane and what types have the Taliban managed to repair.
