On Tuesday, Republican Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose gave the order to the country’s state board of votes to begin removing non-citizens from Ohio’s voting rolls. The condition received the decree after learning that 137 non-citizens had registered to cast ballots in the November election.
137 non-citizens were identified on the country’s voter rolls despite half confirming that they were not citizens of the United States, according to a Tuesday press release from the Ohio Public Integrity Division based on data provided by Ohio’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
According to LaRose,” Ohioans largely passed an amendment to our state law that makes it clear that only U.S. citizens can cast ballots in our votes.” The government has specifically asked me to make sure that only qualified people can register and vote, and I have a duty under the laws to uphold the constitution.
The Ohio secretary of state’s office explained that in order to be removed from the country’s voter rolls, state law requires people to show that they are not citizens of the United States on two separate occasions and have both voted or updated their voting registration between those two times.
The 137 non-citizens may receive at least two written observes from the company to either cancel their voting registration or verify their citizen status, according to LaRose’s office. The non-citizens may become removed from the voter registration floats by the state board of elections if the people do not comply with the notices.

Some of these filings may be the consequence of an honest error, LaRose said. These may be well-meaning individuals pursuing the American dream, but communication difficulties occasionally lead to the submission of an incorrect subscription form. We need to assist them in getting that information cleared up before an unintended membership turns into an illegal voting that could lead to a felony conviction or even deportation.
LaRose also stated that his business would be checking the citizen status of more individuals who the Bureau of Motor Vehicles flagged as non-citizens. According to the press release, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles ‘ ( BoV ) provided some of the records to the secretary of state’s office that required cross-referencing with federal databases.
LaRose pleaded with President Joe Biden’s administration to give the state access to the Protect database, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Social Security Administration, as well as federal district court documents that show individuals who are barred from jury services because of their reputation as a non-citizens.
