Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY ) was criticized by Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY ) over a controversy involving his alleged ties to Judge Juan Merchan and former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.
The discussion was continue to raise a conflict of interest for Goldman, who said , on MSNBC this week that he , determined Cohen for evidence. While some believed that Goldman prepared Cohen to speak in the continuing criminal prosecution against former president Donald Trump in New York, his workplace later clarified that he was speaking about testimony from various prior cases where Goldman held official positions.
When the senator was in charge of the House Intelligence Committee’s research into Donald Trump’s economic ties to Russia, Congressman Goldman made reference to his February 2019 testimony of Michael Cohen, according to Madison Andrus, Goldman’s communications chairman. The Congressman is not involved in Donald Trump’s trial by the Manhattan District Attorney.
Deepening the controversy for Goldman is the fact he also paid more than$ 157, 000 to a political consulting firm that employs Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter,  , Federal Election Commission  , disbursement filings , obtained by Breitbart News show.
” Mr. Goldman, the novice representative from New York, actually does have a personal stake in this case” , , Hageman said during a committee hearing on Wednesday.

He has stated that he has been working on the Bragg event and that he has assisted in getting Mr. Cohen ready for his evidence. So he is very closely aligned with an admitted and convicted hypocrite and perjure”, she continued.
” He’s also paid the Judge Merchan ‘s , daughter’s firm over$ 150, 000 for her services” , , Hageman added. ” So I think we’ve got rather a conflict of interest from Mr. Dan Goldman, the amateur member from New York”.
Democrat Del. Stacey Plaskett of the Virgin Islands asked that Hageman’s speech be , struck , from the document, and she accused Hageman of violating a House of Representatives , rule , prohibiting personal problems.
Plaskett requested that the comments about the potential conflict of interest involving Mr. Goldman get downed.
House Judiciary Committee’s Specific Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government Chair Jim Jordan ( R- OH) refused Plaskett’s demand.
