The public defender’s office is required to provide the pro-Palestinian protesters who were detained earlier this month at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA ) with legal representation, according to a movement approved by the board of directors of Los Angeles County.
As Breitbart News noted, the pro- Arab “encampment” was cleared by authorities on May 2 after a year in which activists had seized the center of school by force, assaulting journalists, using racist rhetoric, and denying Israeli students and others access to common areas on campus.
After 100 pro- Israel vigilantes attacked the walls on the night of April 30 – May 1, officials ultimately intervened.
Next week, the UCLA , Daily Bruin, the scholar paper, reported:
The public defender’s office was asked to devote resources to defending UCLA students who were detained Thursday during the encampment’s officers sweep on Tuesday in a motion that called for clear access to legal aid and defense services for those arrested. Numerous members of the Undergraduate Students Association Council ( USAC ) and a number of UCLA students participated in public comment at Tuesday’s meeting to support the resolution.
” We were protesting peacefully ]sic ] but were harassed by counter- protesters who accelerated the violence, resulting in arrests and attacks”, said Eva Jussim, the USAC external vice president.
…
]Republican ] District 5 Supervisor Kathryn Barger was the board’s sole vote against the resolution.
Contrary to the activists ‘ state to include protested “peacefully”, protesters used force to remove people from their “encampment” in a common area of school. This writer was actually pushed out of the camp by protesters.
Although police have prioritized studies into those who participated, there was no action passed to help the legal protection of pro-Israel vigilantes.
Indigent criminal plaintiffs are entitled to a common keeper, independently.
