A resolution to stop the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ ( ATF ) universal background check has been proposed by forty-five Republican senators.
On May 20, 2024, the guideline is expected to become effective.
The Senate endeavor is led by , Sens. John Cornyn ( R- TX ) and Thom Tillis ( R- NC).

Unfortunately, the Biden Administration attempted to defend the general background check law by referencing the gun control legislation Cornyn helped the Democrats pass in 2022. Bureaucrats in Biden’s Department of Justice ( DOJ) claim that the 2022 gun control, i. e., the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, opened the door to the enactment of universal background checks.
Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-TX ) and 86 Republican co-sponsors in the House are also pushing a resolution to override the ATF’s universal background check rule, according to Breitbart News.
Clyde remarked to Breitbart News,” Private citizens must never be forced to cross unelected, anti-gun bureaucrats ‘ unconstitutional slogs to carry out lawful firearms transactions.” I ask my colleagues in both chambers to back our determine to reject the fatal ATF rule.
