During its second week-long operation in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces ( IDF) discovered loaded rocket launchers.
Rocket flames from Gaza into Israel, which was almost continuous in the weeks following the October 7 despair attack, has generally subsided. But, in recent weeks, Hamas jihadists have fired missiles at the Keren Shalom cross, where humanitarian assistance enters Gaza near Rafah, and at the town of Sderot, near northwestern Gaza.
In a speech, the IDF said:
The men of the 401st Brigade battle group, under the 162nd Division, continue detailed operations in certain areas of eastern Rafah.
Men from Product 414, who are part of the 401st Brigade battle group, flew drones to locate rocket launchers loaded and ready to fire long-range rockets into Israeli place during the brigade-level activity. In recent months, the criminal groups in the Gaza Strip have used these launchers to build rockets at Israel. The IDF completely destroyed the rocket rockets.
In yet another focused raid, the soldiers discovered substantial rocket launch pad infrastructure in the Rafah region and rocket launches on schedule. In recent months, rocket launches against Israel were carried out using the build infrastructure, which has since been destroyed.
Often, rockets are launched from cellular cushions or camcorders. Usually, they are fired from bolts dug into the ground or perhaps embedded inside structures. Each release is a combat violence because they are directed at Israeli civilian areas.
The fact that the Army is destroying rocket launchers serves as a further explanation for the continued Rafah operation, which the Biden administration and a large portion of the international community have opposed. Israel asserts that the city, which is along the Iranian border, is home to the next four Hamas battalions that are still standing.
