Following council members ‘ cooked verbal encounter during a reading the preceding evening, the White House decided to leave the House Oversight Committee in the shade.
Reps.  , Marjorie Taylor Greene , ( R- GA ) and , Jasmine Crockett , ( D- TX ) interrupted the proceedings and exchanged a number of barbs attacking each other’s appearances.
Greene suggested that Crockett was having trouble reading past her “fake eyelashes”, and, soon after, Crockett responded by alluding to Greene’s “bleach white, negative- built, butch system”.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez ( D- York ) demanded that Greene regret, which she refused.
” Are your thoughts damage”? Greene taunted.
” Oh girl, oh baby girl, do n’t even play”, the” Squad” member shot back.
Reporters questioned White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about the event during Friday’s presentation, and Jean-Pierre did make reference to President Joe Biden‘s long congressional career even though she declined to instantly comment.
” As someone who was a legislator for 36 years, he believed that people should respect each other, treat each other with respect and civility”, she responded just. ” I think you have to treat individuals with respect, you have to treat people with respect. Because you are working for the American citizens, it is crucial to do that.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ) earlier expressed frustration with the manner in which all parties conducted themselves during the hearing.
” It was not a good search for Congress”, he told reporters. ” We all, I think, need to control the feelings much and get the job done”.
” I think the etiquette in the House is an important tradition to maintain”, Johnson continued. ” So we’ll be talking about that with our people. On the Democratic part, I believe Hakeem Jeffries needs to do the same.
