Famous director Francis Ford Coppola praised the toss of his fresh movie , Megalopolis , during a press event on Friday at the Cannes Film Festival, defending his cast decisions that include Oscar- success Jon Voight, who is an vocal Trump supporter.

He thanked Voight for encouraging him to make the film in its early stages while also recognizing that they live in distinct political environments.
Megalopolis, a decadent decline film that has been on the verge of degeneration, received a wide range of reactions on its Cannes world premiere on Thursday.
The New York Times ‘ reporter called the movie a “fiasco,” and the publication has a particularly hostile attitude toward it.
Adam Driver leads the ensemble cast, which also includes Jon Voight, Shia LaBeouf, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza,  , and Giancarlo Esposito.
Francis Ford Coppola, 85, was questioned about his opinions on the political future, particularly with regard to former president Donald Trump during the press conference.

After Francis Ford Coppola claimed Jon Voight, the star of# Megalopolis, has “different political views,” he enquired about how we can improve the world.
” We have to respect especially those who step out and make an effort to show us the way,” said Voight. https ://t.co/ELRJBhX7Uo pic. twitter.com/dUlTIUGKx5

” Men like Donald Trump are not at the moment in charge, but there is a trend happening in the world”, he said. ” There is a trend toward the more neo- right, even fascist tradition, which is frightening. We do n’t want a repeat of what was witnessed by those who were present during World War II, and we want that to be the case. So again, I think it’s the role of the artists of films to shine a light on what’s happening in the world”.
But then, Coppola deferred to Jon Voight, who was also in attendance.
The filmmaker continued,” Jon, you have different political views than I do,” before adding,” One of the things I might say about our wonderful cast is that they reflect all kinds of political ideas.” This is not just one notion”.
Voight joked:” How did you find that out”?
The actor did n’t get political, saying instead that he agrees with Coppola’s vision in the film.
” I fully support Francis ‘ statement in this movie that states that people are capable of resolving any issue we find ourselves in. We can do it. That is what Adam’s beautiful final lineage of the movie says. We can do it. We must bond together, we must help each other, we must listen to each other and we must take this on and make a better world”, he said.
Later, Coppola acknowledged Voight’s contributions to the movie in its early stages while also acknowledging their differences.
” He was one of the earliest actors who said you have to makes this”, Coppola said, adding,” And politically we’re not in the same world. So there are different opinions here, definitely”.

Since the 2016 presidential campaign, Voight has been a steadfast supporter of Trump.
The Midnight Cowboy star recently endorsed Trump’s re-election campaign, stating that the former president would “overrule the barbaric animals destroying our country.”
