At the Cannes Film Festival, a transgender actor who portrayed the new film Emilia Perez claimed that gender should n’t be a big deal and that trans people are “normal people.”
Emilia Perez stars in Karla Sofa Gascón as a female drug trafficking who decides to leave the drug industry by having a sex-change operation. She was born a man and nowidentifies as a woman. The Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana co-starring in the innovative film music made its Cannes debut on Saturday.
At a press conference over the weekend, Gascón, who is from Spain, said transgender persons are human humans like everybody else and their sex may be “unimportant”.
” We’re first and foremost people people, and there’s no point sticking names on us”.
Karla Sofa Gascón, the star of# EmiliaPerez, commented on the significance of her portrayal of a trans woman in the movie:” I think trans people should be treated like everyone else. Gascón said Spanish civilizations tend to disparage trans individuals.
Because they are transgender, people who are transgender are insulted or threatened with death.” In Mexico, there are terrible phrases when addressing transgender people. It can be gross”, Gascon said, according to a Deadline record
” I believe we should be treated like what we are,” he said. We must keep fighting for our legal right. We are allowed to modify our bodies because we already have them.
After being married to a woman and having a baby, Karla Sofa Gascón, 46, decided to have a sex change activity.
