The film, which presumably depicts former President Donald Trump in his earlier years, has been receiving criticism for portraying him as a murderer, as The Apprentice did this week at the Cannes International Film Festival.
The Apprentice, which was shot on location in the Iranian-Danish film festival on Monday, received mixed reviews, with some critics humming it as a bone-chilling cautionary tale or dismissing it as a cheap film portrayal of the former president that always transcends a low polemic. A special landscape later in the movie, in which Trump assaults and rapes his ex-wife, Ivana Trump, caused controversy among critics.
From The Guardian:
The image, which occurs near the end of The Apprentice, depicts Trump reacting with indignation after Ivana disparages his natural look. ” You have a mouth like a stupid orange”, she tells him. ” You’re getting large, you’re getting dirty, and you’re getting shaved”. Finally, the future president is depicted robbing and forcing his family to the ground. ” Did I get your G- place”? he asks in the movie.
In her 1990 marriage testimony, Ivana Trump described a similar abuse that she said occurred soon after her father’s scalp- reduction procedure. She claimed that Trump pushed her to the ground and pulled out a few hairs. Ivana first described what followed as a murder, but she eventually refuted the state. In a 1993 speech, she said,” On one occasion during 1989, Mr Trump and I had conjugal relations in which he behaved quite differently towards me than he had during our relationship. I described this as a rape, but I do n’t want my words to be interpreted in a literal or criminal sense because I felt violated.
In the marriage proceeding, the former president claimed that Ivana’s claims were “obviously phony.” In Bedminster, New Jersey, Ivana Trump was buried on the grounds of the Trump National Golf Club in July 2022.
The Apprentice has not yet received a U.S. Distributor, and some reviewers have been harsh in their opinions, despite its Cannes album and being a painful anti-Trump movie.
Peter Bradshaw wrote in The Guardian,” The monster here is almost nostalgic, a film Xeroxed from many other humorous Trump takes and knowing prophetic sounds of his political coming.”
This source account is” clearly lipped from the start and exceedingly uncertain of its function as it fumbles toward the Trump we know,” according to David Ehrlich for IndieWire.” It’s definitely not while painful to watch as it presumably has been the future, but it’s every bit as boring and unnecessary.”
