EL PASO, Texas ( NewsNation ) — Former Vice President Mike Pence toured the southern border in El Paso, Texas, on Tuesday, aiming to keep the spotlight on the migrant crisis that he says affects all 50 states.
Rodney Scott, a former border police chief under Pence and past president Donald Trump, were among the law enforcement officials who met with Pence at a roundtable. He even met with Thaddeus Cleveland, a past Border Patrol agent who is now the present sheriff of Terrell County, Texas.
” I’m here as a deeply involved American who lives in the homeland and is aware that the state-by-state turmoil at our southern border is not just a result of our country’s deep concern.” It affects all 50 state in this state”, Pence told NewsNation.
He claimed a Texas judge informed him that next year, there was a 1,400 % increase in fentanyl deaths.
Smugglers were apparent on a hill while overlooking the frontier in New Mexico, an unusual sight during social appointments to the area, which are usually avoided due to dangers.
Pence claimed that the media has shifted its attention away from the border, which he described as a “national protection problem.” His visit comes inainte of a republican borders bill expected to be rejected in the Senate this week.
During Trump’s presidency, about 2.5 million refugees were expelled under the Title 42 open heath purchase. Since 2021, under President Joe Biden, around 2 million have entered the U. S. each month.

Pence urges politicians to “get working on it” because he thinks Congress prefers to have an immigration issue rather than to solve it.
