Because of the absence of rules granting asylum to thousands of illegal aliens, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus will resist an immigration growth bill that is supported by President Joe Biden.
On Monday, Biden urged Congress to pass the bill, which would, among other things, increase green cards given to foreign nationals, expedite work permits for migrants, and allow some 35, 000 migrant encounters at the southern border before , the Department of Homeland Security ( DHS) could deploy border controls.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY ) announced that Biden is working to get the bill approved this week on the Senate floor.
In response, Nanette Barragan (D-CA ), chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, stated that her caucus will lobby against the bill, primarily because it does not include provisions for giving amnesty to the millions of illegal aliens living in the United States.
The Senate borders act once more fails to meet the needs of the moment by putting forth just policies and failing to involve provisions that will maintain families up, according to Barragan in a statement.
As written, the bill excludes important protections and constitutional channels for families, land workers and America’s DREAMers who have been in the U. S. contributing to our government’s communities and market for decades.

According to Barragan, “any bipartisan solution” must include the Farm Workforce Modernization Act and the DREAM Act, both of which would grant millions of illegal aliens green cards and eventually gain American citizenship.
” If this bill passes, it will set back real comprehensive immigration reform by years”, Barragan said.
If the Senate approves the bill, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ) predicted that it will be dead when it enters the House.
Senate Republicans are in opposition to the bill, which will require a lot of support, especially with far-left Democrats like Sens. Alex Padilla ( D- CA ) and , Bob Menendez ( D- NJ).
