Most of the help being delivered to Gaza via the fresh “floating jetty” constructed by the U. S. war is being stolen, according to reports.
President Joe Biden announced the completion of the wharf in his State of the Union address last year, and the Pentagon announced on Tuesday that 569 measurement lots of support had been brought ashore so much.
But, as rumors have emerged that Palestinians are just seizing support from the backs of delivery trucks, the Pentagon is unable to declare how little, if any, of that help has actually reached the organizations where it is supposed to go.
According to a report released on Tuesday by Reuters,” no support has been delivered to a U.N. inventory from a U.S. built wharf for two days.”
It added:
10 carloads of food aid, which were transported from the jetty page by U.N. vendors, were handed in on Friday at a World Food Programme inventory in Deir El Balah, in Gaza, according to the U.N.
Just five carloads of food arrived at the warehouse on Saturday after 11 people were removed by Palestinians during a humanitarian aid convoy through an area that a U.N. official described as difficult to access with humanitarian assistance.
…
The U. N. did not receive any help from the wharf on Sunday or Monday. Before proceeding, the U.N. national said,” We must make sure that the necessary protection and operational arrangements are in place.”
When questioned about the situation in a media briefing on Tuesday, Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said it would not be accurate to say that no help had arrived at all and that he could not explain how the United States may guarantee that help from the jetty had been delivered.
” The help is in the assemblage places on shore, correct? So it’s – it’s taken – the – so the martial – the U. S. war is delivering it to the causeway”, he said. ” It’s therefore taken by non- U. S. companies, driven over onto beach, put into an assembly area, which is where the NGOs that are supporting this work pick it up and get it for westward supply”.
He was unable to specify how many of the 569 metric tons of support that had been delivered to the wharf had really been received by aid agencies.
