Representative Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez ( D- NY ) said Wednesday on MSNBC’s” All In” that it was “hypocrisy” to strike the International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor , requesting incarceration warrants , for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leaders for alleged war crimes.
Host Chris Hayes stated that” there were bipartisan names in the Senate to operate on legislation to effectively punishment the International Criminal Court for that arrest warrant toward Netanyahu. Working with a nonpartisan group of senators was apposed to Anthony Blinken, he said. Would you be interested in passing bipartisan legislation to censure the International Criminal Court for its” Benefits” jail permit?
Ocasio- Cortez said,” Totally not. Definitely no. I’m going to join some of our most enshrined friends and other Congressional people who support and defend the ICC’s and the courts ‘ independence. There is no specific set of information that has been presented by any part of any party as to why the ICC’s conclusions are inaccurate or tainted, or why the procedure may or may not have legitimacy, which is what I find particularly disturbing about this harm on the ICC.
She added,” The fact that we are simply attacking a court because we do not like it’s conclusion, without any evidence to support that case, creates, I think, and opening of hypocrisy. It has the potential to be a surprise to American enemies. What prevents Putin, what prevents people and different authoritarians around the world from even disobeying an international body from attempting to hold those responsible for battle crimes?
