After the previous U.S. senator said he would use his relations with Putin to free Wall Street writer Evan Gershkovich from a Soviet prison, the Kremlin said on Thursday that President Vladimir Putin had not had any contact with Donald Trump.
Trump claimed on his social media platform Truth Social that this would occur shortly after the American election in November, when he is vying to beat President Joe Biden and re-enter the White House. He made no mention of any interactions with Putin.
” Here, Putin has naturally never had connections with Donald Trump”, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
Contacts with incarcerated people must be made in total silence and with no covertness, according to Peskov.
” This is the only way they can be effective”, he said.
Gershkovich, his papers, and U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration all vigorously refuted spying allegations that he, his paper, and the government of Russia allege were connected to the arrest in March of last year. He has been imprisoned in a prison in Moscow for well over a year, but there is no fixed trial date.
